Two years ago, these five ladies came together from the Ottawa-Valley with one goal in mind, to preserve the historic culture and dance of the Khmer people. All of them Canadian born second generations, yearned for the knowledge of Cambodian history that was almost lost mid 1970’s (mainly due to the execution and starvation of more than 1.5 million Cambodians under the Khmer Rouge regime). They learned the dance Robam Jun Por, in translation meaning the Wishing Dance. In Cambodia this dance is mainly preserved for the Royalties and only in recent years has it been observed by the Khmer people. These five ladies are all successful careered professional’s, who contribute their time and knowledge so that we may see and appreciate the beautiful dance of the Khmer people.
Introducing to you Janet, Jeanny, Saly, Channy and Karolyn.
